Sometimes the next chapter begins with a new door.
On 1 October 2026 I start at a new office. Before IT became my career, I studied at NæringsAkademiet and then spent two years at Bergen Technical College. Toward the end of my studies I began running the college's IT environment, and after graduating I continued there as an employee for around six months before moving on to itslearning. From 2011, around 15 years of consulting followed. Now I begin a new role as a planner at Statnett – the start of a new chapter.

My path into IT went through NæringsAkademiet and then Bergen Technical College. At BTF, theory quickly became practice: toward the end of the two-year programme I began running the college's IT environment, and after graduating I continued there as an employee for around six months. From there I moved on to itslearning. In 2011 I entered consulting through ID Scandinavia, beginning around 15 years across several consulting firms, most recently blinQ. Now I am moving into a planner role at Statnett – a shift from consulting to being part of one organisation with a long-term public mission.

What is new is everything I have yet to learn.
A new perspective.
Infrastructure, technology and planning will have a different place in my daily work. My first aim is simple: get to know the people, listen, learn and understand the role. The rest can develop with experience.
The exploration continues.
IANS remains a personal project, independent of my employer. It is where I can test ideas, build tools and explore technology at my own pace. My work may offer new perspectives, while the reflections here remain my own.
The first day is only the first day.
It is tempting to describe a career change as a grand plan. Right now it is more accurate to call it a beginning: a new office, colleagues, tasks and much I do not yet know. This page can grow alongside the journey.
